Another Brick in the Courseware or How to Create Reusable Learning Objects
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper describes guidelines to identify and design reusable learning objects. The guidelines are the output of a project called eduBITE. Learning objects are treated as the smallest units of learning material development and reuse. General and specific technical and didactic learning object properties are specified. To support the learning object implementation process a WYSIWYG LO-Editor eduEDITOR has been developed. To index, store and retrieve LOs and to put them together to personified courseware a ‘Computer Aided Courseware Design Tool’ called eduWeaver is presented which has also been developed in eduBITE.

A Practical Strategy for the Modularization of Courseware
In order to enable courseware reuse, it is necessary to decompose learning materials into manageable learning objects. Most scientific projects and organizations that are concerned with courseware reuse and exchange like Ariadne [2], IMS Global Learning Consortium [4], Educause [3], the IEEE Learning Technologies Standards Committee [8] with its Learning Object Metadata (LOM) [7], and the Germa...
متن کاملHighly interactive web-based courseware
This contribution presents interdisciplinary approaches to develop, interlink, and modify Web-based learning content with special regard to highly interactive content. We describe how we base development of virtual experiments on a toolkit of reusable software components. For proper embedding into courseware we further provide a scripting interface. Authors may create and modify scripts online ...
متن کاملHighly Interactive Web Courseware
The grand vision of educational software is that of a networked system enabling the learner to explore, discover, and construct subject matters and communicate problems and ideas with other community members. Educational material is transformed into reusable learning objects, created collaboratively by developers, educators, and designers, preserved in a digital library, and utilized, adapted, ...
متن کاملMaking Courseware Reusable
In this paper we discuss how the development of reusable courseware can be supported by using modularization and ontologies. We argue that those concepts will enhance the quality of courseware and its cooperative development as well as the degree of its reusability and exchange. An adequate development process is presented, and it is shortly sketched how to use the resulting courseware in a new...
متن کاملDeveloping Modular and Adaptable Courseware Using TeachML
This paper presents the use of an XML grammar for two complementary projects--CHAMELEON (Cooperative Hypermedia Adaptive MultimEdia Learning Objects) and EIT (Enabling Informal Teamwork). Areas of applications are modular courseware documents and the collaborative authoring process of didactical units. A number of requirements for a suitable document format are identified. After comparing exist...
